At the Aquarium....From Land to Sea

Where do you get inspiration for your card making?  I never know where mine is going to come from or where those odd ideas come from.  Guess it is best just not to question it!  I was given the assignment for a male birthday card for a workshop.  Hmm, something unexpected I think.  What about an aquarium?  Can I make it look like we have taken a trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium?  What do you think - did I pull it off?  At least a little bit?

The card actually folds flat but then becomes a 4 1/4"x5" card with a 1/2" between the front where Happy Birthday is embossed in Iridescent Ice embossing powder on the window sheet to the back where I stamped the coral in Early Espresso ink.  All of the wildlife and lighthouse were stamped on Whisper White and then cut out.

Since this card does not open, I placed a piece of Whisper White cardstock on the back of the card with the Birthday Blossoms sentiment and the adorable turtle.

From Land to Sea....

Here is a card we recently made using the From Land to Sea stamp set.  See the Soft Suede backing behind the turtle?  I love using things in ways that they are not intended to be used.  In this case, this is the Wondrous Wreath framelit.  Did you recognize it?  We used the AquaPainter and ink to color the turtle but used Versamark ink for the jellyfish.
Here, on the inside of the card, we used a Soft Sky marker to lightly color on the jellyfish stamp and then also used a Sahara Sand marker to just touch on small areas of the stamp to give a two-tone effect.
