How Many Butterflies?

I made this card up for a recent workshop (ok, maybe a month or two ago).  This picture doesn't really show it well but the words from Watercolor Words are stamped on Basic Black cardstock using Whisper White Craft Ink creating a look of chalk.  The detailed butterflies were cut out of the Black Glimmer paper which has been retired but you can use Basic Black cardstock with either Dazzling Diamonds or Clear Wink of Stella.  I used my Brother ScanNCut to cut out a solid back for the largest butterfly since the Bold Butterfly Framelits and Butterflies Thinlits do not have one.

At the Aquarium....From Land to Sea

Where do you get inspiration for your card making?  I never know where mine is going to come from or where those odd ideas come from.  Guess it is best just not to question it!  I was given the assignment for a male birthday card for a workshop.  Hmm, something unexpected I think.  What about an aquarium?  Can I make it look like we have taken a trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium?  What do you think - did I pull it off?  At least a little bit?

The card actually folds flat but then becomes a 4 1/4"x5" card with a 1/2" between the front where Happy Birthday is embossed in Iridescent Ice embossing powder on the window sheet to the back where I stamped the coral in Early Espresso ink.  All of the wildlife and lighthouse were stamped on Whisper White and then cut out.

Since this card does not open, I placed a piece of Whisper White cardstock on the back of the card with the Birthday Blossoms sentiment and the adorable turtle.

One of My Favorite Stamp Sets...

Sorry I haven't been posting for a couple of weeks.  I have been busy though!  With convention, classes and workshops, I have gotten a bit behind.  Hopefully I can get some cards and videos up for you in the next few weeks and get caught up!

Here is a card from a workshop in June that uses one of my favorite stamp sets from the new annual catalog.  I liked this card so much, I ended up using it as a swap at convention this year.  Do you recognize the Mint Macaron and Basic Black Designer Series Paper?  No?  It is the Everyday Chic paper which comes in black & white.  I just took my brayer and the Mint Macaron ink and colored it.  I love this paper for that reason -- you can make it whatever color you wish!

Finally, are you looking at those flowers and saying that you wouldn't want to fussy cut those?  Well, I didn't.  If you have been following my blog, you would know that I used my Brother Scan N Cut to do the cutting for me.  Love that machine!
Here's how I finished my card on the inside as well.  And, yes, the front of this card takes a ton of the little pearls!
