Merriest Moments

Have you checked out this stamp set?  It is really cool that there is an embossing folder that coordinates with the dies so you can cut them out or just cut out the outside edge.  Super cool!  This card was made using several different blends markers and coloring the embossed die cut.  I also used the little gold holly leaves which I just love!

Penguin Place

Here is a card I made for class using the Penguin Place stamp set last month.  I know that I CASE'd this idea from someone but I am not able to locate where.  To whoever it was, thank you for your creativity!  This penguin was made using the punch and then the eyes, beak, hat and scarf were created using the stamps.  Holly Jolly Wishes was used for the front sentiment and Sweet Stockings was used for the inside sentiment.

Nuts about Christmas Using Nuts About Squirrels

Here is what I visualized when I saw the Nuts About Squirrels stamp set - a little squirrel holding onto a Christmas present!  I used the Sweet Stockings stamp set for the gift and cut it down a bit in order to have it fit in his paws and not totally block his cute face.  I also used Scotch Tape to mask off "you" from the "nuts about you" and then used "Christmas" from the Banner Year stamp set.  Yep, here's that stamp set again!

For those of you who have been reading my blog since I started posting again with tutorials, I think I have figured out how to make the tutorials available without having to approve your request.  Hopefully they will work now and you can go back and grab any of the previous ones from their posts.

Nuts About Squirrels

This stamp set is one of the first ones I wanted from the Holiday Mini Catalog although the card I visualized using it is not this one.  This one I CASE'd from Cheryl Horvath because I thought it was so cute!  As always, I switched it up a bit but it is fairly similar to her creation.  Thanks Cheryl!  This card also uses the Banner Year stamp set for the little acorn.  See, I told you it was a versatile set in my last post!  Since I missed posting the first week of September, this week I will share two cards - on Friday I will be posting that card I originally visualized using this stamp set.

Festive & Bright

I don't create a lot of Halloween cards but one of my customers requested that I create one so here it is.  I used the Festive & Bright stamp set which is a versatile set for the last few months of the year as it has a Halloween stamp, a fall stamp and a Christmas stamp.  I also used Banner year on the inside of the card for the bat and the Happy Haunting sentiment - another versatile set!

Penguin Place and the Penguin Playmates Sale-a-Bration Paper

I love these little penguins and I knew that this set was on my wish list when I first saw it.  We weren't able to see the Sale-a-Bration offerings at the same time and when we finally did, I was excited that there was this coordinating paper.  I just love it!  With my ScanNCut, I was able to cut out a bunch of the little penguins, foxes and polar bears from one sheet to add to the inside of this card.

Sweet Stockings Filled With Puppies & Kitties

Puppies and kitties!  Who doesn't love puppies and kitties and don't they just make you smile?  Combine them with the holidays and you just can't feel sad.  I love that Stampin' Up! provided dies to cut out the stockings from the coordinating designer series paper but I used my ScanNCut so I could cut a full sheet out while working on the rest of the project.  I love how this card tucks into the bottom right

Merriest Moments Using the Alcohol & Blends Technique

I bet you have been seeing several people creating cards using the rubbing alcohol and blends marker technique.  Well, here is mine for you too!  Remember that you need to use 91% alcohol - the 70% alcohol won't work as well.  Also I found that you will get a different look depending upon how you apply the alcohol.

If you smooch (yes, a technical term) the alcohol onto the vellum by loading a paint brush with alcohol and then pressing down onto a spot, you will get larger spots like in my sample here.  Just remember not to get too much alcohol - otherwise you won't get the cool lines.  A little goes a long way.  Wait a bit between applications as the alcohol will move.

If you load your paint brush and then tap onto the side of your finger to splatter the alcohol, you will get a totally different look with smaller spots.  You can even do a combination of both!

Fun Fold Card using Whimsical Trees

I love a fun fold card.  I just think they add a little bit more of a wow factor to your cards.  My challenge is figuring out what to call them.  Some are easy to figure out but it seems like I see different names for the same folds.  This one I am going to call a Two Sided Fold Card.  What would you call it?

Have You Fallen in Love with Hand-Penned Petals Yet?

Sometimes we "like" a stamp set or a designer series paper and then when we get it, we just fall in love!  That is what happened to me with Hand-Penned Petals and the coordinating designer series paper.  This set is great for the stamper who struggles with lining up the two-step stamps perfectly because these do not but it still looks awesome!

This card is a simple "fun fold" card.  Just slide the front flap of the card on two sides.  I used a 1/2" window sheet strip to hold the two outside flaps together and to support the ribbon.  This way you can open them leaving the center flap to be a second part to open.  My tip for the inside of the card.  The Basic Black background is a standard 4" x 5 1/4" piece and I just attached the three inside pieces - less measuring needed!

This is what happens when you are indecisive!

I decided I wanted to highlight the new Plenty of Patterns Decorative Masks at my recent class.  So I started out with the card above.  But then I saw a card that used the storybook fold and thought that would be perfect for this card as well.

Since I couldn't decide which way I liked the card better, I offered that they could make the card whichever way they wanted.  Which would you choose?

The gold strip was made using the gilded leafing which I love!  I also used a sponge dauber and liquid glue while the mask was still in place to get the small round portions ready to adhere the gilded leafing there.  A word of caution - clean your mask right away!

Sweet Peach Blossoms!

Here is a card from my May class using the Sweet as a Peach stamp set.  There is something about this stamp set that just makes me happy.  I can almost smell the sweet scent of these blossoms.  If you are my age (no, I am not telling!), you may remember Kiddles which were little dolls that came in plastic cases.  There was a series of them that were associated with various floral scents and I remember the little peach blossom one!  Do you?  Are you even old enough?  Lol!

I used the Basic Borders dies to get these layered flaps.  Here's a tip - you can cut two together to make sure they stay straight but three won't work.  Just cut the two and then remove one and use the already cut one to keep the third one straight as well.  Just start with the Basic White and Pear Pizzazz pieces a bit longer than you want so you can trim them after you have them cut.

These Little Guys Just Make Me Smile!

I returned to hosting classes in May and boy, did that feel good!  These little guys had to be a part of my designs and I have been having such fun working with them.   The Picture This dies are the perfect die set to feature these barn animals from the Peekaboo Farm stamp set.  As you may recall, I always finish the inside of my cards to coordinate with the front so here you can see how I finished the card.

Yep, I Haven't Posted in Two Whole Years but I am Back!

We have all gotten to a point in our lives that something had to give and for me, back in 2019, it was this blog.  I have continued my small stamping business but had to step away from the computer and blogging.  I am not a real Chatty Cathy so blogging is a challenge for me.  So I stepped back for awhile and then Covid hit and my business suffered tremendously.  I am finally ready to get back to stamping and teaching so I am going to begin blogging again.

Feedburner who was sending my blog posts to subscribers is going away as of July so I had to do a few things even if I wasn't blogging.  One of them is to get set up with a new service to send out the emails and I have decided to use Follow.it.  Email subscribers will see they have some new options that they never had before.  Let me know what you think about it. You can check it out further here:  https://follow.it/

So I hope you are looking forward to seeing posts from me in the future.  I am looking forward to getting back to it!  Here's my first for you.  Something a little different but I hope you like it.

You will find this little crate at the Dollar Tree for just $1.  I thought it would be a great adhesive and tool caddy.  However, everything kept falling over.  Solution:  Section off portions for the various items.

Here are the cut sizes for the sections that I created.  A couple of tips if you are making one - First, cut along the score lines so that the tabs will be glued to the largest sides.  Second, trim the tabs so they are half the width of the tab you will be gluing them to - that way they do not overlap.  Third, glue the tabs on the outside so the insides are smooth.

Now you can decorate the crate however you wish - paint it, cover it with Designer Series Paper, or leave it as is!
