Cute 3" x 3" Cards and Envelopes

Here's an adorable 3" x 3" fold card and envelope that we made using the Simply Scored and the diagonal plate for the envelope. Thanks to Dawn Griffith for this idea!

Here's what the inside of the card looks like. The stamp set used is Elementary Elegance which was a Sale A Bration free set. The card is created by taking two 3" x 6" pieces of paper. They are scored on both ends at 1 1/2".

Creating a Grid Using the Diagonal Plate

Here's a card we made using the Simply Scored and the new diagonal plate. I think it turned out cute!

To create the grid, score at 1" intervals along the top and left side of the diagonal plate. Then turn the paper 90 degrees and score at 1" intervals again. The flower stamp is from Fresh Vintage which I hope you got during Sale A Bration. The sentiment is from the Friendly Phrases stamp set.

Stampin' Up!'s Bright Blossoms Stamp Set..

Did you get this in April when we got the sneak peek at this set and the coordinating designer series paper? I wasn't going to get it but saw so many cute things done with it that I ended up ordering it. Here's the card we made at a recent class:

I am sad that the Finial Press embossing folder is retiring. I really like it. This card was inspired by one from an artist on SCS but I added the embossing. If you didn't get a chance to order it, it will be available June 1.

Stampin' Up!'s Paper Doily & Butterfly Die

Here's a card made using the Paper Doily die. I cut the doily out and then placed it on the Beautiful Butterflies die. I then layered it on top of a coordinating colored butterfly which was cut with the multipurpose adhesive already applied. After placing the paper doily, it was covered in Dazzling Diamonds.
The sentiment was from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set. The pearls were colored using Sharpie permanent markers.

Technique Tuesday - Box Fold Card

Here's a technique I demonstrated at my Simply Scored class in March. It is a cool card and requires no adhesive to hold together. The only adhesive used is for the decorative side strips. Let's get started:

Here's what you will need:
Simply Scored
12 x 12 Designer Series Paper
Coordinating piece of paper
Neutral card stock
Border punch - I used the scallop trim border punch
Bone Folder
Stamp set for focal point of belly band

Cut the 12 x 12 DSP to 8.5" x 11". Retain and set aside the portion you cut off.

Place DSP in Simply Scored with the 8.5" edge at the top. Score at 2 1/8" and 6 3/8".

Turn paper so 11" edge is at the top. Score at 1 1/4" and 3 3/8". Turn paper so the other 11" edge is at the top (180 degrees). Score again at 1 1/4" and 3 3/8".

Fold paper inward at the inner score lines on all four side. Fold the sides toward the outside along the 1 1/4" score lines.

Fold the bottom up along the score line.

Fold the top outside corners down toward the center on both sides.

Fold the top down and fold back the corners the same way as you did in the previous step.

At all four corners, you will see small rectangles where there are score lines and the edges. Trim from the half way point at the bottom up to where the score line meets the edge. Repeat on all four corners.

Using the coordinating card stock, cut a piece that is 4 1/4" x 1 1/2". Punch along the long edge and attach to the back side of the folded sides of your box card.

Open up the box and fold up the four sides to create the walsh of the box. You will need to press the corners together where they meet at the corners.

Fold them inward toward the sides. Then fold the tabs down on the sides.

This is how the sides should look.

Gently press along the fold lines until you box collapses to the center and lays like this.
