My Happy Place.....

Inspired by a card from another talented cardmaker who didn't put a watermark on her card so I cannot give her credit but it inspired me to make my own watercolor card using this set.  This was my favorite stamp set from the Occasions catalog and if you know me, that makes complete sense as I am all about anything beachy or nautical.  Unfortunately I didn't get too much time to play with this set but I will be hanging onto it for my own personal stash!  To create the frame look, I too a piece of washi tape and masked off the edge of the watercolor paper.  I then embossed the palm treetops using gold embossing powder.  The trunks were stamped in Soft Suede.  I then took the inks and an aqua painter to do a wash on the watercolor paper.

Products Used in this Project:

  • Stamp Sets - Beach Happy & Well Said
  • Inks - Versamark, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Calypso Coral. Mint Macaron & Pool Party
  • Card Stock - Watercolor Paper, Crumb Cake & Pool Party
  • Other - Gold Embossing Powder, Braided Linen Trim, Any Washi Tape & AquaPainter

Creating Using the Faux Bleach Technique...

I came across Rich Atkins' video on creating cards using the faux bleach technique.  There is nothing worse than planning a class with a card using bleach only to find out you have someone who cannot tolerate the smell of bleach!  Now what?  Yes, this actually happened to me a few years ago so when I saw this, I just had to try it!  Below I have a video that shows how to create this card using the technique.  I wanted to show the versatility of the technique so I also created this other card using pinks & reds.  So which do you like better?

What's in the Box? A Look at Some of Stampin' Up!'s Products from the Upcoming 2019-2020 Annual Catalog

Are you looking forward to the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog as much as I am?  Having attended the OnStage event, I was able to get a copy of it and it is awesome!  The best part of attending OnStage (with exception to seeing my friends from all over the country) is the ability to get the catalog early and see the cool products that are coming in June.  The second thing about attending OnStage is getting to order some of those products right away and today I am sharing them with you.  The video is a bit long but I wanted to show you all the cool things that I ordered and give you a sneak peek at what is on its' way.

You won't be able to order these products until June 4 but visit my Online Store here to order any of the retiring items including the 2017-2019 In Colors.

So Hoppy for You.....

Every Sale-A-Bration, Stampin' Up! comes up with an adorable set using some sort of animal.  Do you remember last year's pandas or 2017's chickens from Hey Chick?  This year it is So Hoppy for You with the cutest little frogs.   How can you not love a frog on a unicycle, right?

Ok, so now So Hoppy for You is on your wish list but you also HAVE TO ADD the Grapefruit Grove and Lovely Lipstick Foil Sheets as well.  The picture in the catalog absolutely does not do them justice!  Of course, neither do these pictures.  Hopefully, you will get a better look at them in the video below.

On this card I used Brusho powders for the background and created a pull tab to allow the frog to cycle his way over to the left side of the card.  Check out the video on how to make this card - it is actually easier than you think!

On the inside of the card, I used the Incredible Like You stamp set.  At the bottom is the Grapefruit Grove foil sheet which is holographic and so very cool!

Here you can see how the frog has moved across the card using the side pull tab.

Products Used in this Project:
  • So Hoppy for You stamp set
  • Incredible Like You stamp set
  • Stained Glass Framelits
  • Flourish Thinlets
  • Bottles & Bubbles Framelits
  • Blueberry Bushel card stock
  • Call Me Clover card stock
  • Whisper White card stock

Butterflies Everywhere....

Last week I showed you a couple of projects using the Beauty Abounds and coordinating dies from the new Occasions catalog so I thought I would share a card with you using the butterflies from the Painted Glass stamp set in the annual catalog.  Have you figured out where I got the white floral die cut from?  No, it isn't from an actual die - it is from the Delightfully Detailed Lasercut paper.  I just cut a section from the solid piece.

Your Tip of the Day is one that I have shared several times - make sure to place double sided adhesive sheets to the back of the pieces that you are cutting out with the Stained Glass framelits.  For the piece cut from the Delightfully Detailed paper, place some liquid glue on a silicone mat and smear it around and then place your piece into the glue to get some on the back.

Products Used in this Project:
  • Painted Glass stamp set & Stained Glass framelits
  • Itty Bitty Greetings
  • Rich Razzleberry card stock
  • Coastal Cabana card stock
  • Bermuda Bay card stock
  • Whisper White card stock
  • Delightfully Detailed Lasercut Designer Paper
  • Rich Razzleberry ink pad
  • Classic Label punch
  • Scattered Sequins embossing folder
  • Rich Razzleberry & Bermuda Bay Blends markers

Our Love is Meant to Be....

I saw a card by Sarah Fleming that I really liked using this stamp set and designer series paper but by the time I got done creating, it doesn't look much like her card at all anymore!  I love that we can find inspiration from each other and end up with something similar or something very different.

In the video below, I show you a way to stamp images along a straight line using your Stamparatus as well as how to create the tri-color flowers.

Beauty Abounds, Part 2....

When I attended Stampin' Up!'s OnStage, I won the Beauty Abounds stamp set as my prize patrol.  I immediately fell in love with the floral flourish in the stamp set.  While I love the butterfly dies that coordinate with this set, it does not include a die to cut out the flourish so I created my own cut file on my ScanNCut.  After cutting it out, I colored it using the Highland Heather and Granny Apple Green Blends markers.  The black & white butterfly paper behind the vellum is from the Botanical Butterfly Sale-A-Bration paper.  On the inside of the card, I used another piece from the same paper.  I just love this paper!

Here's a tip for you - when attaching something like the stamped flourish over a piece of vellum and then attaching the vellum to your card front, place your Dimensionals on the backside of the vellum in exactly the same places as on the front to hold the flourish.  This way the adhesive is completely hidden.

For those of you who are curious how I created my own cut file, here are the steps I took - yes it is a bit convoluted but it worked great.  First I stamped the image in Memento black and ran it through my ScanNCut to scan the image in.  I added a .04 matting around the outside.  I cut the image out to make sure that it looks exactly the way I wanted it and then slide a piece of black paper into the same location on my mat and cut it out again in black.  I then took the black piece and scanned it into the machine and saved it as a cut file.  I then took a piece of the white backing from the designer series papers (thin chipboard) and cut it out using the saved cut file to create a template.  I then cut out a bunch of the cut files from a piece of Whisper White.  I placed the template in my Stamparatus and placed my stamp in the cut out area of the template and picked it up with the plate.  Then I could place each of the cut flourishes into the template area, ink the stamp and stamp them!  If that doesn't make sense to you, send me an email and I will do a quick video to show the process.

Products Used on This Card:

  • Beauty Abounds stamp set & coordinating dies
  • Burlap stamp
  • Highland Heather card stock
  • Granny Apple Green card stock
  • Basic Black card stock
  • Whisper White card stock
  • Vellum card stock
  • Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper
