Stampin' Up!'s Paper Doily Large Sizzlits Die

Here's a card we made using the Paper Doily Sizzlits from the Occasions mini catalog. Several people have indicated that they were not getting good results with the cutting with this die. I use five - yes, five - sheets of grid paper stacked up and placed between the platform and one of the cutting plates. Rolling it through is tough but it works. I then just use a paper piercer to pop out the little pieces. Here's the exact "sandwich":

Platform with Tab 1 only
Five pieces of grid paper, cut to size
Cutting Pad
Paper Doily Sizzlits face up
Card stock
Cutting Pad

Note: All Big Shots are a little different. You may require more or less paper pieces for your Big Shot.

Stampin' Up!'s Apothecary Art Stamp Set

Here's another card from the Simply Scored class. Thank you to Patty Bennett for this fold card. It is called a Double Dutch card. The top folds down and the bottom folds on both sides into the center.
Here's the card when it is open:

To make this card, cut off a 2" piece from the 11" length of a piece of card stock. This will leave you with a piece that is 9" x 8.5". Cut it in half at 4 1/4". Score it at one end at 3 1/2" and fold down.
Take the 2" x 8.5" strip and score at 2 1/8" on either end.
You may need to trim about 1/16" off one side of the 9" x 4 1/4" piece to have it fit well inside the 2" strip. Adhere together in the center.
I used the Labels framelits and the Apothecary Art stamp set which is only available until April 30.

Stampin' Up!'s The Open Sea...

Here's the final card from the workshop at Barbara's house. I am so glad that Stampin' Up! Chose to carry over The Open Sea because it is my go to stamp set for masculine cards. Thanks to Marie Shaughnessy for the bottle template and the card inspiration. I did have to reduce the size of the bottle but that may be my printer.

Here's the inside of the card.

Retiring Accessories List is Here!!!

Stampin' Up! just released the Retiring Accessories and Definitely Decorative lists and they are long!!! Remember, these items are only available while supplies last - several are discounted so they will probably go real fast.  Lots of changes for this year!  To see the lists in .pdf format, click on the links to to the right of this post.  If you wish to see the sortable Excel file, click HERE.   They also released the following news about the items on the list:

When you look at the retired accessories list, you'll note that all of our Stampin' Pads are listed. This is for two reasons:
            (1) Craft Stampin' Pads will now only be available in black and white; and
            (2) we are introducing a new Firm Foam pad in our Classic Stampin' Pads with the 2012-2013 annual catalog.  The Firm Foam pads offer better ink coverage and, in turn, better stamped images.
In addition, please note the following about the new catalog:
          • Only select Stampin' Write Markers will be available individually (Stampin' Write Markers in color collections will continue to be offered)
          • 12" x 12" Textured Card Stock will no longer be offered
          • 12" x 12" Smooth Card Stock will only be available in select individual colors and color collections

Technique Tuesday -- Faux Patina

It is Technique Tuesday and I have a cool new technique for you. I saw this technique on SplitcoastStampers and I had to try it! It has several steps but is easy to create.

Here's what you will need:
Piece of Whisper White card stock
Crumb Cake, Marina Mist, Always Artichoke and Early Espresso classic ink
Versamark ink
Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder
Gold embossing powder
Sponges
Embossing Buddy
Heat Gun
Big Shot

Step One: Ink the inside of the embossing folder using Crumb Cake ink.
Carefully place your Cardstock in the folder and run through the Big Shot.

Your Cardstock will look like this.

Step Two: Sponge cardstock using Marina Mist so the edges pick up the color.

Step Three: Sponge the cardstock using the Always Artichoke ink.

Step Four: Sponge the cardstock using the Early Espresso ink.

Step Five: Cover the entire cardstock using the embossing buddy to make sure the ink is all dry.

Step Six: Lightly tap the Versamark ink over some of the raised areas of the embossing. Do not cover everything.

Step Seven: Pour gold embossing powder over the cardstock and heat emboss.

Here's what your project should look like. Isn't it gorgeous?

Here's the card that I made using this technique. You can also get a sneak peek at a new stamp set coming in June - Everything Eleanor. Also used in this card is Artistic Etchings and Just Believe.

Stampin' Up!'s Blossom Punch Pop Out Card...

Here's another card from a recent workshop using several punches. Barbara always challenges me to make things using the punches. Sometimes I use them in unusual ways like the Angry Birds card in the last blog entry but at other times I like using them in the way they were supposed to be used but with something different.

Like a Pop Out card!

Here's a picture from an angle so you can see how the flowers were popped out. Again, thanks to a wonderful SCS artist for sharing this idea.

Punch Art - Angry Birds....

Here's an adorable card that we made last week at a workshop. I have only played the Angry Birds game once but I know lots of people who love it. When I saw that a wonderful artist on SCS found a way to make the angry birds using Stampin' Up!'s punches, I couldn't resist. Here's a list of the punches that went into making them:

1 3/4" circle punch
Word Window punch
Itty Bitty Shapes circle punch
Small Heart punch
Boho Blossoms punch
Full Heart punch

I put another of the red Angry Birds on the inside just to finish the card.

Stampin' Up!'s Everybunny Stamp Set...

Here's an adorable Easter card I CASE'd from one of the wonderful stampers on SplitCoastStampers.  I used the Big Shot Texturz Plate for the grid but you could also use the new Diagonal Plate for the Simply Scored.  Placing all of those little tiny pearls sure was a patience tester!
Here's the inside of the card.  I sent this card to my daughter in college along with lots of eggs filed with candy and other Easter treat for her and her friends.  The little duck that did backflips was apparently the hit of the Easter care package.

Stampin' Up!'s Retiring Stamps List is here!

Stampin' Up! has released the list of stamp sets that will retire on May 31, 2012 and it is definitely a long one.  As you already know, Stampin' Up! is changing their catalog strategy and this is what brought about such a long list of stamps and accessories on the retiring list.  However, there is one announcement as part of the catalog transition that is exciting - ALL stamp sets - with the exception of A La Carte and a few background stamps - will be offered in clear mount.

Click here to see the retiring stamp sets now!

Retiring Accessories and Definitely Decorative lists will be posted on April 25.

Stampin' Up!'s Nature Walk Stamp Set...

Here's a Flip Flap card that we made at a recent workshop using the Nature Walk stamp set.  The top right piece folds down and the bottom left piece folds inward to make this into a regular size card.  Pretty cool, huh?  Also, when cutting this card out of an 8 1/2"x11" piece of paper, you end up with two of these cards.
Here's the finished card.  This technique is also on my list for Technique Tuesday so keep your eyes open!

Stampin' Up!'s Apothecary Art Stamp Set....

Here's a card we made back in February at one of my workshops.  It is a 6 fold card - the perfect type of card for using your Simply Scored and the new Diagonal Plate!
Keep your eye out for the Technique Tuesday tutorial on how to make these fun cards.  It is on my list but I wanted to share this card with you early since the Apothecary Art stamp set is only available through the end of April.

Stampin' Up!'s Happiness Shared on a 3 Tier Card

Back on February 21, my Technique Tuesday was a tutorial on making a 3 Tier Card using the Bordering on Romance stamp set.  This time, I thought I would show you another 3 Tier card I made using the Happiness Shared and Word Play stamp sets.  We made this card back at a February workshop and I just came across my picture of it so I thought I would show it to you.
Here's what the card looks like closed.

Stampin' Up!'s Packed for Baby Stamp Set...

This card was one of my favorites from Deb's WOW swap. When I first saw the Packed For ... group of stamps, I didn't think I would like them but since I received them for free as part of Book-a-thon that I participated in, I hoped someone would come up with some great ideas for them. I was right - I have seen lots of great cards made with these stamps. This is my favorite for the baby stamp.

She finished the card on the inside is such a cute way too!
