Tippin' on Tuesday - An Impossible Card using Magical Day

Have you seen the "Impossible Cards" that everyone is making right now?  I thought I would share my version as well.  These little cards are definitely an optical illusion as you wonder how they could have the cut outs the way that they do but once you realize how easy it is to create them, they are quite addictive!  While most that I have seen leave the cut outs empty, I decided to put a doily behind it and I really like the way it turned out.  Below are measurements and cutting instructions for the card and the mats.  A video is also provided to show you how to make the card.

Tippin' On Tuesday - Quick & Easy Tri Fold Card Using Magical Day and Happy Birthday Gorgeous....

Today's card is a tri fold card is really fun and easy to make.  The Magical Day stamp set and the coordinating Myths & Magic designer series paper were so fun to play with and I think they work really well for this type of card.  I know exactly what little girl will be receiving this for her birthday!
Here is the middle section of the card with the wizard and his little owl.
Here is the bottom section of the card with the dragon and sentiment from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.

Tippin' on Tuesday - A Fun Fold & It is Easy Too!

Today's card is what I call a Diagonal Fold Card or an Angle Fold card.  I am sure someone else has a better name for it but for now, that's what I am going to call it!  This card is quick & easy to make - you just need to make sure that you cut the pieces properly.  See the video below for instructions.

Here is another variation of the card which we made at a recent class.  It amazes me that the difference in Designer Series Paper can really change the look and feel of the card.  Which one do you like best?

Tippin' on Tuesday - The New Catalog Ideas Begin NOW!

Stampin' Up!'s 2017-2018 annual catalog goes live on Thursday and we are celebrating early!  It may not be your birthday but here's a fun card for you to make to celebrate other special occasions (like a birthday).  I haven't seen anyone else doing this card and it is one that I learned last year at Sacramento's Scrapbook Expo.  I thought it may be a bit difficult but, like the Merry Mice Twisted Pop Up card I videotaped last fall, it really isn't hard once you know what to do.
Is this not adorable?  When you hold the card in your right hand and pull on the ribbon with your left hand, both the left side AND right side both move out together.  Who wouldn't want a birthday card that looks like this?

  • Pacific Point 8 1/2 x 11 Cardstock
  • Whisper White Cardstock
  • Clear Medium Envelope

Tippin' on Tuesday - Creating Striped Background on Secret Message Card

If you have been following my blog for some time, you will know that I usually post around 9 am but today I am finally posting at 8:30 pm.  It isn't that I had other things going - actually it has taken me two days to get the video done and uploaded.  Seems crazy, huh?  I planned on heading out of town on Sunday so I sat down Sunday morning to film several videos for you.  I decided to put the videos into Dropbox and then when I got to my destination, I could access them on my laptop.  Well, for some reason, it didn't quite work that way!  I ended up having to restore them from an online backup onto my laptop which turned out not to have enough room for all of them at once.  Then I had to edit them and upload them to YouTube.  Here we are  two days later and I am finally getting the first one up.  I sure hope you enjoy it.  It has certainly been an adventure getting it to you!
I was given a card from Erin Wallace at OnStage San Diego last week and really liked the secret message card done this way.   I decided I wanted to share that with you and also thought it would be a great opportunity to show you how to make your own striped background papers.
So here is today's Tippin' on Tuesday video.  For those of you who receive my blog posts via email, click on the title of the post which should link you here to the blog so you can watch the video or subscribe to my YouTube channel so you can get notified of them over there.

UPDATE:  Apparently my issues with this video continued!   Turns out there was a glitch in the upload at the 7:56 mark.  I have fixed that and the video has been replaced.

Father Christmas In A Center Pull Out Card...

Here is a card that I demonstrated back in August at Rose Ellen Eastman's StampingFriends Stampin' Up! Style Regional Event.  I finally sat down and made the video on how to make this card.  Once you watch the video once or twice, it is quite easy to make.  One thing I did learn - use a very fine bead of liquid glue at the top and bottom of the side pieces - do not use double sided adhesive.  It won't hold up over time.
Here is what the card looks like when you pull the sides out to show the center of the card.
