Technique Tuesday - Box Fold Card

Here's a technique I demonstrated at my Simply Scored class in March. It is a cool card and requires no adhesive to hold together. The only adhesive used is for the decorative side strips. Let's get started:

Here's what you will need:
Simply Scored
12 x 12 Designer Series Paper
Coordinating piece of paper
Neutral card stock
Border punch - I used the scallop trim border punch
Bone Folder
Stamp set for focal point of belly band
Framelits

Cut the 12 x 12 DSP to 8.5" x 11". Retain and set aside the portion you cut off.

Place DSP in Simply Scored with the 8.5" edge at the top. Score at 2 1/8" and 6 3/8".

Turn paper so 11" edge is at the top. Score at 1 1/4" and 3 3/8". Turn paper so the other 11" edge is at the top (180 degrees). Score again at 1 1/4" and 3 3/8".

Fold paper inward at the inner score lines on all four side. Fold the sides toward the outside along the 1 1/4" score lines.

Fold the bottom up along the score line.

Fold the top outside corners down toward the center on both sides.

Fold the top down and fold back the corners the same way as you did in the previous step.

At all four corners, you will see small rectangles where there are score lines and the edges. Trim from the half way point at the bottom up to where the score line meets the edge. Repeat on all four corners.

Using the coordinating card stock, cut a piece that is 4 1/4" x 1 1/2". Punch along the long edge and attach to the back side of the folded sides of your box card.

Open up the box and fold up the four sides to create the walsh of the box. You will need to press the corners together where they meet at the corners.

Fold them inward toward the sides. Then fold the tabs down on the sides.

This is how the sides should look.

Gently press along the fold lines until you box collapses to the center and lays like this.
